The Lyminge Family and Local History Research Group (LFLHRG) meets on the 3rd Tuesday in the month (except in August) in Lyminge Library, Station Road, Lyminge from 9.30 am to 11.45 am.
Joining the Group
Group membership is open to all members of the Lyminge Historical Society (LHS) who sponsor our activities. We can process applications to join the LHS at Group meetings and we also welcome anyone who would like to come for a free taster session.
What we do – Family History
We meet to share sources of information, discuss a variety of topics and assist each other in family history research. Meetings give members the opportunity to discuss their own successes and we hold discussions on various types of research and information that is available. Examples of discussions include censuses, birth, marriage and death certificates, wills and Internet searches.
What we do – Local History Research
The Group also acts as a research source for the LHS. Projects have included researching and updating the Society’s records of men from Lyminge who fought in the 1st World War and research for LHS publications.
We have the use of two computers in the Library during our meetings. These give us access to the Internet including Ancestry and Find My Past.
The LHS Archives also provide information and the research work of the Group that is relevant to Lyminge is lodged in the LHS Archives.
